Week two and Sir Alan sets the 14 remaining candidates the task of setting up their own catering businesses in the City. Clients will include businessmen in high paid jobs. The teams need their businesses to stand out and need to pitch their ideas to become a lunchtime business company for some of the top firms in London. Not only must the teams come up with the ideas, they must also make and serve the food to the clients as well as thinking of something different and interesting. As ever the clients are not the easiest of people to pitch to and perfection is key if the teams want to win the task. One will not and Nick and Margaret will be with them every step of the way, right up until Sir Alan utters the words nobody wants to hear, “You’re fired!”

On the panel tonight, Sir Alan’s aide Nick Hewer and MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace. What will he think of the catering task? Maybe there are some budding MasterChef’s in the boardroom. And what about the fired candidate? Should they have stayed or was it time for them to leave? As ever, Adrian will be there to see the funny side of what some of the candidates did or did not do.

I cannot wait for tonight and the return of The Apprentice. 15 candidates and one job, Sir Alan’s search for his apprentice begins tonight. With the task of getting down and dirty in the first week by setting up a car cleaning business how will the teams fare? Will they take to it like ducks to water or struggle from the start. As ever Nick and Margaret will be there to watch their every move as they try and make a success of their business to impress Sir Alan in the boardroom. However one team has to lose and one will get fired! This is reality television at its very best and with a romance rumoured in the house, will relationships become strained to make it one of the most enjoyable series yet?

If you can’t get enough of the main show like me and you want to hear more from the fired candidate then tune in at 10 to see Adrian Chiles interview the contestant that nobody wants to be. Getting fired in the first week must be the worst thing but how about pulling out before the series has even started? Adrian interviews the candidate that could not commit to filming. 31 year-old Adam Freeman did not make it onto our screens but will be seen tonight explaining why he could not go through with it. The father of two from Essex made a million by the time he was 25 selling mobile ringtones but will he live up to the term that Sir Alan addresses him as, a “bottler?”
Here are the 15 candidates that will face Sir Alan in the boardroom. 14 will get fired and the lucky one that is hired will not only get to work for Sir Alan but also take home a six figure salary. The Apprentice website offers a more in-depth bio on each of the candidates so you can find out more about their personalities.

The credit crunch bites at The Apprentice (Source: The Guardian)
The new series of hit BBC One business programme The Apprentice has been hit by the credit crunch. Due to cutbacks, the overseas episodes have been scrapped. Remember last year when they went to Morocco, it was all about the Kosher chicken? Yes, well these episodes will not be happening during the fifth series.
Sir Alan has said today that throughout the series, there will be links to the credit crunch as producers were keen to show the impact it is having on businesses. Also the show is all about working hard and there has never been a better time to illustrate this with the current economic climate.
The fifth series will see 15 contestants and two from overseas for the first time. It has also been revealed that one member of the team pulled out of the show the night before filming took place because he could not bear to leave his family. Sir Alan has described him as a “bottler” but he has recorded an interview for spin-off show ‘You’re fired!’ which will be shown next week.
The series begins on Wednesday 25th March at 9:00 on BBC One and I am sure will be just as good, if not better than last year.
BBC ONE – 9:00 PM
The battle of the boardroom is back tonight and all in aid of Comic Relief. Watch famous names from the worlds of entertainment, television, and business compete in two teams. It’s boys versus girls and Sir Alan Sugar hands them the challenge of designing a children’s toy. Both teams must take into account the marketing and design. The one that is most popular wins. A member of the losing team will hear the infamous words, “You’re fired!”
It looks like an amazing episode to set fans up for the return of the new series in a few weeks. Watch out for some sparks flying between EastEnder Patsy Palmer and businesswoman Michelle Mone. I love this show and tonight is going to be top quality television. The results are announced tomorrow during the Comic Relief telethon.
