Last night I was glued to the television screen in the radio department at Uni. Unfortunately I missed the start of the live telethon but managed to see some of the best bits.
What I was really waiting for was The Apprentice. If I had know how long the wait was going to be, I would have gone home to watch it. I think the firing was shown just after midnight. I think that is a bit of a stupid time to schedule it. A show so popular on so late. I think there must’ve been something in the water the day the Beeb decided such unfair scheduling.
Highlights of the night included, James Corden with the England football team, The Royle Family Special, and who could forget the last ever French and Saunders. Accompanied by Joanna Lumley, the comedy trio re-invented last year smash hit, Mamma Mia! I have to say that they were very good and got their roles down to a tee. Both French and Saunders actually looked like Meryl Streep and Julie Walters.
Being a journalist, I should’ve watched the news but did not. I switched over to BBC Two and watched Top Of The Pops. Only to see Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon and Sir Tom Jones perform. It also seemed that half of the Gavin and Stacey stars were the backing singers along with Robin Gibb.
The eight hour telethon was packed with some of the best comedy around and hosts including, Davina McCall, Claudia Winkleman, Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Horne and Corden and Fern Britton made the fundraising event even more enjoyable.
