Jade Goody lost her battle with cancer today. The timing could not be worse as it also means that she will not be able to spend Mothers Day with her children.

Goody had been suffering from cervical cancer since last August. It then spread to her bowel, liver and groin and began to take over her body. Before her death she looked frail and weak, pictures in the press showed just how ill she was. She has planned her funeral and a large screen will be placed outside the church so fans can watch the ceremony.

Her publicist Max Clifford has said that she died in her sleep at around 3:55 am. Her mother Jackiey was by her side. Although her life was cut short, it was a turbulent few years since finding fame in Big Brother in 2002. She might have come fourth but has seen more media attention than the winner of that series, Kate Lawler.

A few years later the media attention she was receiving was not the kind she wanted. The Celebrity Big Brother race row was a huge story a few years ago but she has since apologised and her and Shilpa Shetty were friends up until her death.

No doubt thousands of fans will be mourning her passing today and many will miss her. She has done a great deal to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Fans are this morning visiting her home, placing flowers at the gate as a mark of respect.

Jade passed away at her home in Upshire, Essex.

Has OK! completely lost it?

20 03 2009

When OK! Magazine went on sale this week I am sure we all knew who would be on the front. It was of course Jade Goody. One thing we were not expecting was the article that was strewn across the front page.

Now, forgive me for being stupid but as far as I am aware, Goody is not dead yet and already OK! have decided to print a tribute to her. It seems extremely bizarre if you ask me. The front cover reads, ‘In loving memory’ as if the reality TV star has already passed away.

What also shocked me was her families reaction. They said that it was a kind gesture as it was celebrating Jade’s life. BONKERS?? I think so…

Jade has been on the cover of OK! for weeks and has made a lot of money out of them. The support she has received from them has been seen as extremely grateful but I think that printing a story like this is just wrong. What are they going to put on the cover when she does die? I dread to think, probably something like ‘Welcome to the afterlife’.

If I was a member of Jade’s family I would not be sharing the same happiness and gratefulness that they are. I would be angry at such a statement. Many people actually thought that Goody had died when they saw the magazine, others believed that it was accidentally printed.

OK! have defended their decision to print it and say that the support from Jade’s family has been excellent. The special tribute issue can be seen on the OK! website.

Jade only has a matter of days

17 03 2009

Friends and family have been visiting the Essex home of Jade Goody today to say their goodbyes.

Jade only has days left it is thought as her cancer takes over her body. She has just put the finishing touches to her funeral and has chosen her own coffin. Yesterday she told her two sons, that she was going to heaven. This is the first time she has spoken to them about her illness since she realised back in August 2008.

Her condition deteriorated over the weekend and she is extremely unwell. Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty flew into Britain to visit Jade but she is not well enough for that many visitors. Her publicist Max Clifford said that Shetty completely understands.

The family are now preparing for the worst. It is thought that Jade has sorted everything including the custody of her children who will be looked after by their father, Jeff Brazier. Goody has also arranged for a large screen to be put up outside the church during her funeral so fans can gather and watch the service. Her house is said to be in order and it is now only a matter of time until she loses her battle with the cancer that has spread to her bowel, liver and groin.

Jade Goody has left the Royal Marsden to spend the time she has left with her family.

Goody expressed wishes to return home so she could see her sons and spend time with her husband. A nurse has gone back to her Essex home with her.

Earlier in the week, Goody received a shock when a woman with a hammer got into her hospital room and threatened her. Her publicist Max Clifford has said that the hospital decided she was well enough to go home.

Goody and sons christened

7 03 2009

Terminally ill Jade Goody and her two sons have been christened at the Royal Marsden hospital. It was thought that Goody would not be well enough to go through with the ceremony but doctors allowed it to happen at the hospital. Goody had wanted to return to Essex but publicist Max Clifford said that she was not well enough to travel.

The short emotional services was attended by close friends and family as Jade, Bobby and Freddy were baptised at the ceremony in West London. At the end of the service, Goody emotionally said goodbye to some of her closest friends. Clifford claims that it would’ve been their last goodbye.

Jade’s children are unaware of how ill their mum is and arrived at the hospital with their father, Jeff Brazier. He did not comment on the situation.

Jade managed to stay awake throughout the entire 20 minute ceremony. Max Clifford said that this is the last public appearance she will make.

Goody and sons to be christened tomorrow

6 03 2009

I reported earlier that Jade Goody may not have been well enough to be christened. However it has now emerged that both her and her two sons will be christened tomorrow morning at the hospital where Jade is being treated.

Around 25 friends are expected to attend the ceremony at the Royal Marsden tomorrow. Goody had hoped to travel to her local church for the ceremony but her publicist Max Clifford has announced that she is simply too ill to travel.

The church where she wished to be christened was the same one in which she married Jack Tweed last month.

Goody to ill for her own christening

6 03 2009

Jade Goody may not fulfill one of her wishes before she dies, to be christened. It was planned for her to be christened in her hospital bed but the last 24 hours have been crucial in assessing her current state.

Goody’s publicist, Max Clifford has announced today that Jade is too ill to go through with the event. He told The Sun that she cannot stay awake for too long and can only manage to say a few words.

It is hoped that if Jade begins to feel a little better, she may be able to go home to be christened. She has also expressed wishes to die in her Essex home. The other thing holding this back as well as her diminishing health is the amount of time she has left. In Goody’s eyes she has days left to live.

Jade Goody’s cancer spreads to brain!

3 03 2009

It has emerged this morning that Jade Goody’s cancer has spread to her brain. The terminal illness which had previously spread to her liver, groin and bowel is slowly taking over her body as it travels through her bloodstream. Goody was told the news at the weekend while at her hospice. She underwent surgery last night to fix a blockage.

A family friend of Goody said that although the news was “devastating” it was not “unexpected”. Although it will only help a little, doctors can now help medically with the pain Jade is suffering because they know how the cancer is spreading.

Her life expectancy still stands at just a few weeks and Jade has expressed wishes to return to her home to die.
