Cheryl, who performed at the Brits last week without her wedding ring flew out to LA but returned this morning and her spokesperson announced the news a few hours ago.

The split comes after Ashley is rumoured to have cheated with Cheryl five times during their three year marriage. Cheryl had in the past taken him back and given their marriage another go but now she has seen sense and has shown him the door.

Many find the split a shock because it was thought that she and Ashley were deeply in love.

Friday’s live episode of EastEnders was a huge success for the BBC drawing a huge audience. Just under 17 million viewers saw Stacey Slater admit to killing Archie Mitchell in the special installment celebrating 25 years of the show.

With 60 per cent of the available television audience watching, EastEnders trounced Coronation Street and Emmerdale, picking up seven million more viewers that its Weatherfield rival. Emmerdale fell to an audience low on Thursday night up against an hour long ‘Enders which saw Ricky and Bianca and Bradley and Stacey tie the knot. The rural soap dropped to four million viewers against EastEnders’ 11 million.

It has been a successful week for the BBC soap, celebrating 25 years with the climax to such a massive storyline which has been kept quiet for 12 months. Lacey Turner who plays Stacey only found out 20 minutes before the episode went live and the cast found out by watching a monitor in one of the show’s studios.

The episode was very well produced with 32 cameras instead of the normal four in operation. With only two camera wobbles and Scott Maslen fluffing his lines at the beginning but managing to recover, the show can be proud of the production and in particular the reveal and a stunt that saw Bradley Branning die after falling off the roof of The Queen Vic.

Lacey Turner’s performance was outstanding and I really did not think that she would be unmasked as the killer than pushed The Queen Vic bust onto Archie’s head on Christmas Day.

BBC Three made a ratings record as well with a whopping 4.2 million tuning in for the live aftermath show where George Lamb and Kirsten O’Brien went behind the scenes. This is the biggest rated multichannel show for the channel.

Suspects include his two daughters Ronnie and Roxy, Peggy, Janine, Phil and even Bradley. The revelation will come out in a live episode broadcast from the home of EastEnders at BBC Elstree. The 30 minute installment will celebrate 25 years of the show, first broadcast on 19 February 1985.

Next Thursday also sees an hour long episode focusing on Ricky and Bianca’s second wedding and Bradley and Stacey’s re-marriage.

She was best known for her role as battleaxe, Blance Hunt in Coronation Street but earlier today, Maggie Jones passed away in hospital aged 75.

Jones was battling an illness where she was rushed into hospital in October for life-saving surgery. It was announced that after the operation she was making a good recovery and progress was positive.

She first appeared in the long running soap 35 years ago but was not a regular fixture. After making a few guest appearances, the producers decided to give her a permanent position in 1999. Since then she has been loved by millions due to her whit, comic timing and old-fashioned humour. Her quick tongue also won her awards for the best comedy performance at the British Soap Awards in 2005 and 2008.

Jones was written out of the show when she was rushed into hospital and Corrie producers will in the future, be deciding how to write her out of the show for good.

She has also made appearances in Dalziel and Pascoe, Heartbeat and Peak Practice.

Olympic athlete, Jade Johnson has been forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing following an injury.

The long jumper was told by doctors that she could not carry on with the competition after tearing a ligament in her knee.

Her dance partner, Ian Waite said it was a real shame that they had to pull out and the judges along with presenter Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly believed that they could have made the final.

There are now five couples remaining in the competition. Natalie and Vincent, Ali and Brian, Ricky and Natalie, Laila and Anton and Chris and Ola.

EastEnders’ favourite couple Ricky and Bianca are to remarry in conjunction with the BBC One soaps 25th anniversary episodes.

Ricky proposes to Bianca on Christmas Day when he realises his true feelings for her. What we all want to know is what has happened to his relationship with Sam? We know that Daniella Westbrook is due to leave around the festive period but what causes Ricky’s sudden change of heart? Maybe it is something to do with Jack Branning (Bianca’s uncle) and his involvement with Sam.

So it seems as though EastEnders is going to have a semi-happy Christmas. There will be a proposal and a murder with Archie Mitchell meeting a grizzly end.

The original Jackson family return to filming next week and it looks as though Ricky and Bianca’s wedding will be the soap wedding of the year. Their first nuptials drew 25 million viewers. Although I cannot see the viewing figures being as high as that, I am sure that viewers will be tuning in in their millions to see two of Walfords most loved couples tie the knot, something that many fans have wanted since they returned last April.

Ricky and Bianca’s wedding will take place in February 2010 with the proposal being aired on Christmas Day so do not forget to tune in.

CHARLIE CLEMENTS HAS QUIT EASTENDERS.

The actor who plays Bradley Branning will bow out in a sensational storyline centering around the shows 25th anniversary celebrations.

Fans will be asking whether he gets back with Stacey before he departs or will Syd be the one for him.

There are rumours that Bradley will come back from Canada and reveal his true feelings for Stacey when she returns after her breakdown.

Executive producer Diederick Santer has said that Bradley’s exit will be a big one!

Clements has played the role of Bradley Branning in the BBC soap for four years.
