EastEnders’ favourite couple Ricky and Bianca are to remarry in conjunction with the BBC One soaps 25th anniversary episodes.

Ricky proposes to Bianca on Christmas Day when he realises his true feelings for her. What we all want to know is what has happened to his relationship with Sam? We know that Daniella Westbrook is due to leave around the festive period but what causes Ricky’s sudden change of heart? Maybe it is something to do with Jack Branning (Bianca’s uncle) and his involvement with Sam.

So it seems as though EastEnders is going to have a semi-happy Christmas. There will be a proposal and a murder with Archie Mitchell meeting a grizzly end.

The original Jackson family return to filming next week and it looks as though Ricky and Bianca’s wedding will be the soap wedding of the year. Their first nuptials drew 25 million viewers. Although I cannot see the viewing figures being as high as that, I am sure that viewers will be tuning in in their millions to see two of Walfords most loved couples tie the knot, something that many fans have wanted since they returned last April.

Ricky and Bianca’s wedding will take place in February 2010 with the proposal being aired on Christmas Day so do not forget to tune in.

Why do all good things come to an end?

9 11 2009

This weekend has been one of the best I have had in a very long time. It might have been one of the busiest but also one of the funniest.

On Friday, five workmates came up to London and I met up with them and stayed with them until today (Monday). I am now extremely tired and I think the amount of wine I have drunk is taking its toll!

So, what did we do that was so good. On Friday we went to Rainforest Cafe for a meal before going to see Mamma Mia! at the Prince of Wales theatre. The show was fantastic, with a relatively small cast, but everyone was up dancing to the songs in the grand finale. There was a great atmosphere and even one of my workmates that hates Abba was up on her feet!

Saturday we were up really early. I don’t think I have seen 6:30 in the morning for quite some time. But we had eaten breakfast and were in Knightsbridge by 8:15. There was a parade organised by Harrods to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. The film was also the stores theme for Christmas and a fake snow machine turned the outside of Harrods into a winter wonderland.

After Harrods we went to Buckingham Palace and were heading for Petticoat Lane market when we get distracted by a film crew just off Liverpool Street. We were even more shocked when Clint Eastwood walked out of a small cafe. He was directing his new film, ‘Hereafter’ so we stayed and watched some of the filming before going back to the pub. We had a nice meal in a restaurant called Biagio’s in Piccadilly.

Sunday morning we had an hour longer in bed before making our way to the Cenotaph for Remembrance Sunday. The sheer presence of people made it very humbling and although we were stood in the same place for four hours, it was a great experience. We even saw BBC newsreader, Sophie Raworth. I would definitely go again next year.

After the Cenotaph we walked to Covent Garden and had some lunch. I found some mulled wine and we had a look around the stalls and watched some of the street performances before making our way back to the South Bank where we had a 5:00 flight on the London Eye, complete with a glass of champagne. Although it was dark, London looked spectacular. It is such a lovely city anyway and in the dark it really was breathtaking.

We were going to go back to Covent Garden but were too tired, so settled for a Wetherspoons in Trafalgar Square before catching a bus to Harrods to see the lights. ‘The Emerald City’ as Harrods is currently known looked absolutely amazing. After taking numerous photos we made our way back to where we were staying and drank too much wine. So much in fact that four of us ended up walking down Oxford Street in our pyjamas and I climbed onto the top shelf in one of the wardrobes.

Regardless of the final nights antics, the weekend was really enjoyable. They are booked up for next November as well. But today I am very tired. I think I will watch a bit of TV and then have an early night because I really need it!

‘UP’ – a disappointment or was I expecting too much?

4 11 2009

Source: Photobucket

Last night I went to see Disney Pixars ‘UP’ in 3D and I am still not too sure what I thought about it.

Firstly I was disappointed with the 3D element. There wasn’t much of it. I was expecting things to come shooting out in front of me but there was not many moments like that. The most 3D parts were the advertisements before the film started.

The story was what I would describe as bizarre. It was about aboy who met a girl because they were both interested in a famous pilot. The boy and girl marry and grow old together. The girl, Ellie passes away when she gets old and leaves her husband alone in a house surrounded by a building site. Instead of being moved into a retirement home, the old man, Carl ties hundreds of balloons to his house and it floats away.

He wants to land his house near a waterfall where Ellie had dreamed about living. He is accompanied by a young boy, Russell. Together they befriend a dog and a large bird and eventually make it to the waterfall, but first they meet the infamous pilot, Charles F. Muntz who is not as nice as he seems.

I will not give away the ending of the film but it is not what I expected. I don’t know what I really think about the film. It is not the best Pixar film I have seen and is nowhere near as good as Toy Story, Finding Nemo or A Bugs Life. But maybe it is because I am used to watching top quality Pixar films. But for me, ‘UP’ did not quite blow me away.

Cole heads over the pond.

2 11 2009

Cheryl Cole might have scored the number one single for the second week running and the number one album in the UK, but she has her sights set much higher.

The X Factor judge and now solo artist intends to release her debut album, 3 Words in the United States next year.

Lets just hope that the Americans love Cheryl as much as the Brits do because if they warm to her and I hope they do, she could be set for global success!

‘Enders gets a new exec. From Hollyoaks!

2 11 2009

EastEnders is to get a new executive producer after the shows 25th Anniversary.

The current executive producer, Diederick Santer is to step down from the position he has held since 2006. Since arriving at EastEnders, Santer has been responsible for some of the shows most powerful and popular storylines. Since 2006 he has brought to life storylines such as Max and Stacey’s affair, Tony’s abuse of Whitney, Stacey’s bi-polar and Danielle’s death. He has also introduced new characters such as Ronnie, Roxy and Archie Mitchell, The Masoods and has been responsible for the comebacks of Ricky and Bianca, Janine, Sam and Clare Bates. And next year, The Jackson family will be returning.

He will remain on the board of BBC producers but will just step down from his EastEnders role. Kirkwood meanwhile, who has been in charge of Hollyoaks for three years will take over from 20 February. Before working on Hollyoaks, he was a storyliner for Coronation Street during the Richard Hillman serial killer years. A position he held onto for ten years.

Santer said that he was pleased to be handing over to Kirkwood but said that he would miss the Square but has had the best time and did not fail to mention that he had worked with some of the best people in the business.

So what will Kirkwood do to the show? Will it be more like Hollyoaks or stay the same? He has said that he is coming into EastEnders at a time where it is top of its game and is very excited at the daunting task of keeping it one of the nations favourite shows.

I just hope that he does not make it too much like Hollyoaks with frequent cast changes and teen based storylines because EastEnders fans do not want that. They want the gritty drama with some humour mixed in for good measure.

I guess we will have to wait and see what he decides to do but it will be interesting if Kirkwood is in charge of Barbara Windsors exit. And will Clare Bates make a return?
